Can you explain this picture in less than 140 characters? How about in 8 words or less? The fourth graders were able to do that yesterday.

Most students are going to be coming into school dressed as a character from a book they enjoy. Please be thoughtful about the character you choose to be on Thursday, November 12. Some of you may decide not to dress up, and that is okay.
Regardless of your decision to dress up or not, please be sure to remember that reading is thinking. So, if you decide to become a character, think long and hard about your character, what is important to them, what do they carry with them and how does that define them on their journey. Parents,
I really enjoyed meeting with you during our conferences. We were able to speak at length about your child, their progress this year, and some goals for them to achieve this year. I think it is very important for you all to have some face time with me. After all, I am with your children for quite a bit of time everyday. So it only makes sense that we are all on the same page about their learning. If there is something that was discussed during the conferences that you'd like more information about, please do no hesitate to ask. What is most important to me is your child's education. I'll do the best I can to be provide support, give resources, and give instruction to your child. You can send me an email or give me a phone call. Thanks once again for attending the parents teacher conference. Sincerely, Chris Bruff Are you ready to see your favorite Bowman Staff take part at the 20th Annual Trivia Bee? I know I am. Some teams, like The Straight A's, have been gearing up and practicing for the big night. Check out their video to get an inside peak into how they've been preparing. Need To Know Information When: Tuesday, November 10th at 7pm Where: Lexington High School Auditorium How much fun is expected?: Lots! Chance The Straight A's Win: one in twenty In Math, we've been working on making relationships between numbers. Specifically when the students are looking for multiples, factors, and growing patterns. Check out the video below to see one strategy a student uses to find the amount of factor pairs for the number 100. Dear Parents,
This Friday, the students will complete an authentic realistic fiction story. Please allow them to work on their story without giving any assistance. Although it may be difficult to let your child work through difficulty, resist the urge to give feedback. I'd like to see how the students apply the teaching points from lessons in one piece without scaffolding from any adult. I've informed the students that they are to use what they've been taught in mini lessons. If you have any questions, please let me know. Sincerely, Mr. Bruff Book Review by Mar S.I recently finished the book The Valley of the Giant Skeletons and really liked it because it has a lot of surprises like famous people, [fake famous people!] and a lot of friendship in it . It gets exciting when Geronimo finds a very, very famous rodent (it doesn't look suspicious] but it could be fake). Africa doesn't seem like a lot of trouble, but if you read this book it might just change your mind about a few things, for example a can't be a lot of trouble but again this book is different because it might change your mind (I'm not changing your mind about going to Egypt and finding treasures) Geronimo, his cousin Trap, his sister Thea, and his sweet little nephew Benjamin go to Africa to find Uncle Wally's treasure, but will they find the treasure, or will they find something else truly amazing? For more information about the book, check out Geronimo Stilton's website. |
