On Monday, the rock jar overflowed. Although I wasn't in the classroom to see and hear the excitement that came from reaching our goal of filling the rock jar, it was easy for me to tell the students were very pleased with themselves. Smiles were plastered across ever face, reports of filling the rock jar reached me before I made it into the classroom, and plans for the rock party had begun.
Yesterday, the class voted on having a Pajama Day for their rock party. As I explained to the students, they will be allowed, but not obligated to, wear their pajamas. The pajamas should be school appropriate. That means no blood in the image (if there is an image on the pajama), no weapons in the image or pattern, and nothing offensive. The best approach to take is if you are having any questions about it, don't wear it. Some students explained to me that they often wear slippers or comfy shoes around the house. I informed the students that they may wear those shoes. Remember that Tuesday students have P.E. Also, the weather has been getting cooler, so students will need to be sure they are clothed appropriately for the weather outside and the events throughout the day. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
